We are Partners in God’s Mission
Dear Friends
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
From the Book of St John, Chapter 3, verse 16, we learn that because God so loved the world so much, the purpose of Jesus’ life was to come into this world as its Saviour. This insight will give tremendous energy to all who are involved in God’s mission in the changing and complex world situation today. The 4th Sunday in August is World Mission Sunday, as per the LTCC Calendar, when we unravel the inner meaning of what God’s Mission means, what we have learnt from the past to the present and will take from the present into the future.
We have the responsibility to share the love of Christ through our words and actions in our Christian journey. Generally, any Mission can be given all sorts of goals and objectives to accomplish. But God’s Mission has only one goal and one objective, which is sharing the Love of Christ: God’s love for people which Jesus demonstrated in His life. Jesus lived, died, was buried, and resurrected. His love is the only eternal and everlasting Love. It can be shared by us as His followers. To understand this basic truth, we celebrate 'Mission Sunday' on the fourth Sunday in August.
I request you to come and celebrate the Mission of this world and pray for and with many people in this world today. Please come with your own understanding of the God-given Mission in your life. Please ask yourself “What is Christian Mission for me?”
We are familiar with the words “Partnership in Mission”. From LTCC each family is partnering with our church community as we grow together in Unity from different cultures, denominations and traditions and our own social and Christian faith practices. But simple efforts can make a difference and transform our lives together in our Partnerships as Christians in Mission.
During this Summer with its bright, scorching sun, may the Lord enable us to see and reflect on things differently in our lives, so that we can have and hold on to fresh and different perspectives as we move on in our meaningful Christian life, particularly in this Golden Jubilee year of our Church. Have a blessed month of August!
With blessings
