Dear Friends
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
We are in the Season of Creationtide. This is the period in the annual church calendar, from 1st September to 4th October, which is dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life. This year LTCC Harvest Sunday falls on the 25th Sept, during the 4th Sunday. There we have the opportunity to remember the beautiful creation and creativity of God that we treasure in our life journey.
During this summer I was able to see animals such as squirrels and foxes, and birds such as pigeons and doves, very often around the vicarage where we live. Many times, their presence revealed that they were looking for some food from us.
So, through them, I learnt to interpret God and His creatures in this climate change situation. God is reminding us through nature, in this dryness, that climate justice and reconciliation can be done by each one of us. The small and caring life of even one person can contribute to healing in the bio-diversity in the universe.
During this year’s Creationtide we can reflect on nature/creation and ask ourselves, in the midst of the needy world, “How can I (or we) be mindful of sharing the loving and caring nature of God?” Even we can interpret the present time and speak about the local and global life situation with our children, to help them to grow in the knowledge of God. Along with the animals, birds, insects, plants and trees we also live with our neighbours, some of whom have no shelter, food or friends.
When you come for the 4th Sunday never fail to give thanks to God for what we eat, recalling how we need to be mindful of the hard labour of those who are cultivating, transporting and distributing food amongst us. Please invite families and friends for this Harvest Sunday. The Harvest offerings of non-perishable food will be passed on to the River Court Methodist Church Homeless Project.
I will be on Sabbatical from 20th Sept to 10th November. Revd Singa Vunipola has graciously accepted to lead Holy Communion Services on 4th Sundays in September (Harvest Sunday) and in October (Bible Sunday). During my absence, Diluxion Jeyakumaran has agreed to lead the 2nd and 3rd Sunday Services and Charles Rajkumar and Gladstone Worthington have agreed to be the Preachers.
Please pray for those who contribute to the worship in September, October and November, and pray for our LTCC children and youth, who have begun the new academic year, to be blessed.
Have a blessed month!
In His mission
Revd Jessie Anand, Minister, LTCC
