Integration, not Segregation
Dear Friends
Greetings to you all in the name of our Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.
Generally, ‘Reflection’ from the past always enriches and revives our spiritual journey.
Our First Minister, the late Revd Araseratnam’s inspirational words stayed with me after the 50th year Putney church celebration on 26th June 2022. His lovely words ‘Integration, not Segregation’ need to be remembered and practised meaningfully in our day-to-day lives for our future journey together.
From the Church liturgical calendar, we remember the Apostles Peter and Paul on 29th June and the Apostle Thomas on 3rd July. There is no doubt these Apostles practised the life of Integration in sharing the Gospel in their Mission wherever they were. Both Gentiles and Jews were included in their mission to tell the world the Good News of Jesus.
When we reflect on the life of our Church, the ‘Putney Church’, we realise we do have lots of differences among us though we are Tamil community, but the Golden Jubilee Celebration reminds us to practise integration and to give a new meaning in our life together as the Ecumenical Church family of London Tamil Christian Congregation.
Our 2nd Minister, Revd Wesley Ariarajah, also prompted us in our Thanksgiving Service from Hebrew 12:2: “looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.”
I am always thankful to God for taking some of you as Pilgrims whenever I have led a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. This summer, on the 2nd & 3rd Sundays in July and August, I would like us all at LTCC to reflect with me on different Holy Sites, with appropriate Bible readings, to deepen our faith in Christ and reread His life and work from the Gospels.
May we all walk with Jesus and reflect His nature in our lives!
